  49.             This release of the MMSC presents a significant
  50.             improvement in the stability of the MMSC over the
  51.             previous releases. There was a bug in the MMSC firmware
  52.             that manifested itself in many different ways.  It
  53.             caused MMSC to timeout on certain commands and then
  54.             become unstable, such as described in bugs PV #:
  55.             624391, 624408, 624412, 624419, 624422, 656417, 656420.
  56.             This bug was related to poor buffer management between
  57.             various MMSC processes.  This bug is fixed in this
  58.             release, which results in much greater stability of the
  59.

  74.             MMSC. Also new commands have been added to aid in
  75.             working around some of the previous problems reported
  76.             with the MMSC.  Here are the descriptions of new
  77.             commands.  Each description explains what problems the
  78.             command migh help solving.

  80.             ARBITER
  81.                     Usage:
  82.                             arbiter
  83.                     Successful return:
  84.                             OK:RACKNUM
  85.                     Definition:
  86.                             Returns the current arbiter of the MMSC
  87.             network in a
  88.                             multi-rack system.  The arbiter is the
  89.             MMSC responsible
  90.                             for resolving name conflict when new
  91.             MMSCs are
  92.                             introduced to the network.  The purpose
  93.             of this command
  94.                             is to assist users who want to swap one
  95.             MMSC for another
  96.                             one.  This can usually be done without
  97.             disturbing other
  98.                             MMSCs on the network, UNLESS the MMSC
  99.             which is being
  100.                             swapped out is the arbiter MMSC.  In
  101.             that case, all the
  102.                             MMSCs should be reset after the swap,
  103.             and all the rack
  104.                             ids should be checked and set correctly
  105.             if necessary
  106.                             using the RACKID command.

  110.                     Usage:

  112.                     Successful return:

  115.                             This reports the ethernet address of

  118.             used if the MMSC

  123.                             2 MMSCs on the same network had the

  4923.             loaded either through the user interface or the command
  4924.             line configuration. Profiles can be merged, clean
  4925.             installed and removed thereby providing the flexibility
  4926.             to monitor a set of events.

  4964.             dates. The logbook entries are also cross referenced by
  4965.             the event reports on a date basis. This allows to check
  4966.             if any log entries are made against events.
